With three universities located in the Punta Gorda area, you could say education is part of the culture. Western Michigan University, Florida SouthWestern State College, and Florida Gulf Coast University all have a presence here. There are opportunities to earn bachelors and master’s degrees in the sciences, engineering, nursing, medicine and the arts.
There are also two technical schools. Charlotte County Technical Center, ranked #8 in Community Colleges by Bankrate, offers programs in Business and Office Technology, Health Sciences, and Service and Construction Occupations. The Charlotte Aerospace Institute at the Charlotte Technical Center is a partnership between Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Charlotte County Public Schools and is designed to enhance a student’s future success in college or professional trade schools.
In addition to the Charlotte County Public School System, several private and parochial schools are also in Punta Gorda.
